Hôtel Lyret, formerly known as Hôtel Les Gourmets, is preparing for a grand transformation and will reopen its doors in December 2024 under a new name, imbued with meaning and modernity. This three-star hotel, located in the heart of Chamonix, stands out for its unique fusion of art, design, and alpine hospitality.
An Inspired Name and an Artistic Reinvention
The new name, Lyret, is derived from the Latin word for gravel, a subtle reference to the local texture and the history of the neighborhood. But there’s more: the hotel’s redesign is marked by an exceptional artistic collaboration. Six international artists have been invited to create site-specific works, inspired by the breathtaking natural environment of Chamonix.
Laurène Maréchal, the exhibition curator, explains:
“Art evokes the mountains in a new way. The invited artists, deeply influenced by the location and the extraordinary surroundings of Chamonix, offer fresh and original interpretations. Their works inspire dreams and provoke thought, guiding our gaze through a multitude of colors and textures. Art and design come together to create a singular universe that defines the character of Hôtel Lyret.”
